When was the last time you went for a family ‘Picnic’?
Picnics have gone missing!
Long before we were hit by the Pandemic, Picnics have been elusive. Though they have not extinct but definitely they are not anymore among the hottest ideas of socialising . There was an era before technology invaded our lives when there used to be a special day . When we pack meals, gather different sporting equipments , board games and the whole family used to go for an outing at a park or some countryside area for PICNIC.
I have many fond memories of Picnics from my childhood . My kids doesn’t have any such , as so far I hardly have taken them for any Picnic. My wife always pushes me to plan a small Picnic but somehow I have always avoided it. So one winter afternoon , after the things went normal post 1st wave of Pandemic , my wife quickly arranged everything. Packed the meal, disposable plates, disposable garbage bags, board games ,a bed sheet. Our ‘family picnic bag’ was ready and we hit the road to go to SARNATH, the most popular picnic destination in Varanasi.
The kids were super excited . The ‘family picnic activities’ were on. Since it was a working day so “SARNATH” was very less crowded. The kids had a blast, we played few board games, we all sat together on our bed sheet , enjoyed some homemade snacks with soft drinks, the kids ran around the huge Sarnath lawns and we also played Antakshari. It was a magical experience. A memorable one which proved to be a major stress buster. A beautiful evening and some quality time family, what more one can ask for.
When all these chaos is over, when the ray of light breaks the darkness of this Pandemic, when the life will triumph over fear , than let’s make an effort to spend more time in the lap of nature , take our kids for Picnics ,outdoors excursions and make them smell the freshness of the fresh air, the music of nature . It’s time to break the chains off clubbing, and crowded confined spaces and go back to roots, let’s go ‘Picnic’ .
