Dubai, the capital city of UAE is one of the most popular destination in the world. It has to be in everyone’s backlist. Its one of the most cosmopolitan city I have been to. In Dubai, located at Jumeirah 1 region, is the beautiful La Mer beach . La mer extends right up to the sea and offers the people a stunning destination to unwind. La mer beach is vacationer’s paradise. The beach is lined with palm trees, arts and murals with lots of dining and leisure activities available for you that will sweep you off the floor.
As a beachfront, La Mer is place you can visit with your family as well as loved ones and bask in the sun or enjoy a quiet day at the sea. During my last vacation to Dubai me and my family went for a dinner at the mesmerising La mer beach. Its a food lovers paradise and its very difficult to choose a Resturant as all looks enticingly beautiful and tempting. We zeroed in at this serene Resturant called “SIKKA CAFE”. The plush interior, the comfortable setup, a very unique menu and sumptuous food made our evening a memorable one. Everything was perfect and the icing on the cake was the dessert “LUQAIMAT”, which was a totally new dish for us.
Luqaimat, looked like the Indian Gulab Jamun but it was totally different from it. Luqaimat are sweet dumplings made of flour, yeast, cardamom and saffron that are whipped up into a soft and smooth batter and deep-fried till they are a nice golden colour. These balls of delight are crunchy on the outside and soft and airy on the inside. Since there is no sugar in the actual dumplings, they are drizzled in or dipped in a sugary, honey or date syrup to make them sweet and served with tea or Arabic coffee.
They are one of Qatar’s most favourite sweet and have also found quite a fan following amongst expats who relish the syrupy taste of these ball-shaped dumplings that tickle the taste buds and cause an explosion of heavenly sweetness in your mouth.
